For electric guitars, in our opinion, a good default string height at the 12th fret is typically about 6/64th of an inch (2.38mm) on the bass the last few weeks I was trying to get the string action on my guitars right - initiated by my new Epi LP Standard which was adjusted very poorly. Now I got an action of about 1.5mm to 1.25mm (12th fret, low to high e obviously). This is pretty low for my standards as I didn't really care about it. Gibson carefully adjusts the action and the string height before shipping the Epiphone Dot. Don't make adjustments unless you've got clear problems, particularly with string buzzing. Exercise extreme caution when adjusting the truss rod. Overtightening can damage the neck of your guitar. This is a very nice 22 year old Epiphone Casino. This one was made in 1994 in the Peerless Epiphone factory. This is a very well regarded time for Epiphones and these Peerless Korean Casinos are not the easiest nor cheapest to find.
